Ozone disinfection can play important roles in the prevention and elimination of fish diseases in aquaculture systems. Ozone is a powerful oxidizing agent disinfects and oxidizes organic pollutants while increasing the water's dissolved oxygen level. The end result is exceptional water quality, which is a fundamental requirement for intensive fish farming.
Ozone is increasingly used in aquaculture, due to its numerous advantages over traditional water treatment methods. Disinfection of circulated water is essential to maintain the health of Aquatic habitat. Ozone provides effective disinfection without producing harmful byproducts or chemical residuals. Ozone treatment lowers the number of illnesses and increases the life span of Aquaculture.
Ozone systems are easy to adapt to large scale ponds and raceways as well as small holding tanks and nurseries. Improved water quality leads to reduced mortality rates and an increased yield of a healthier product. Other benefits include a reduction of chemical additives for water treatment or vaccines and antibiotics.
Within the application area of aquaculture, eltechozone is used in conjunction with re-circulating of water in aquaculture systems. The use of ozone with re-circulating water in aquaculture systems allows the user to benefit from a greater flexibility in site selection, reduced water usage, substantially improved water quality and reduced level of waterborne diseases.
Ozone is responsible for reducing Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC), as well as controlling the level of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD)/ Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD. The combination of these factors naturally leads to a reduction in effluent volumes, higher standards of environmental control, and a greater productivity. Residual time of ozone is only for 20-25 minutes, it again gets converted into oxygen after losing property to oxidize.
Ozone Technology Following key issues in Aquaculture/Aqua farming can be eliminated after using Eltech Ozone generator with Oxygen Concentrator :
Water in pond or tank is pumped at elevated pressure through a venturi nozzle, where oxygen is injected. The water becomes saturated with oxygen and is then distributed through high velocity mixing tank along the bottom surface. Oxygen flow rates can either be manually regulated or automatically controlled using a dissolved oxygen (DO) analyzer and probe. By closing the loop with a signal that is fed back from the DO meter, the oxygen system can be turned on and off automatically, as needed. DO is gaseous oxygen that is dissolved into water that fish directly absorb through their gills and skin for respiration. The DO concentration is measured in parts per million (ppm) and a saturation of 70% or concentration of 5 or 6 ppm is essential for stable growth in fish.
Eltech has great experience for supplying oxygen to aquaculture facilities that raise a variety of fish species, among them trout, striped bass, tilapia and shrimp. We can assess your facilitys operating needs and design an oxygen system to meet your specific needs.

Ozone is a very effective disinfection agent and can be used in aquaculture / fish farming to replace chlorine containing disinfection chemicals. The advantages of using ozone compared to the other water treatment agents is that the water environment will increase dramatically. Ozone will breakdown already formed unwanted chlorinated byproduct. Fish farming includes culturing of fish commercially in tanks or enclosures, usually for fish. Fish hatcheries& fish farms play an ever increasing role in supplying the world's demand for fish. To supply this demand, fish farms must practice farming techniques where more fishes are farmed in same or smaller tank volumes. So, as the fish density grows it does the risk of infection by water-borne bacteria and viruses. Because of this problems, some aquaculture operators do use strong antibiotic drugs to keep the fish alive. And in some of this cases, drugs have entered the environment. Still many of these fish farming operators still use antibiotics, which can cause harm to human health and fish farming. Ozone is the only disinfectant for aquaculture to kill bacteria and viruses without leaving any residue.
